Watching the Nationals win the World Series the other night got me to thinking that maybe I need an at bat walk up song to get me in the mood before writing.
In Stephen King’s book, On Writing, he mentions when he got his first rejection, with an editor’s note on it, he felt like the king of the world and played Fats Domino’s I’m Ready. That song does have a good hook and Old Fats saying he is ready does pump you up.
On the flip side, when you get flat out rejected with the old “thank you literary enthusiast”, Katy Perry’s Roar, is a great song to get you back to the computer.
When folks piss on your dreams, Tom Petty’s Running Down a Dream or I won’t back down can get you feeling good again.
Have to knock out 5000 words by tomorrow – Mission Impossible theme song can get you going.
Boss wants you working 10 hr. days. Well (You Gotta) Fight for your right to Party.
Received that check in the mail – Skillet’s Feel Invincible will have you fist pumping to the bank.
For me as I approach the computer to write it would be great to hear AC/DC’s It’s a Long Way to the Top (If you want to Rock and Roll)
Now let’s get to work.
